Damien? as in The Omen?
'Cockwomble?' Wtf?? After 6 years the JTS still gets me from A to B with no hassles. Cockwomble? what kind of ***** comes up with that ****e?
I respect your opinion and your right to have it, but speaking as an Italian who has owned a JTS GT and currently owns a 1.9 derv I have to say that was rather a narrow minded and sweeping statement...
The JTS isn't just the worst engine in the GT but maybe even the worst engine Alfa have ever made, just because it drinks petrol does not give it instant credibility,or make it worthy of respect except amongt the petrol snobs of which you are clearly one. it doesn't even sound that great compared to the fantastic TS it replaced.
it has a disappointing 165 BHP if your lucky as many are under powered ,drinks like a fish, I know I owned one and do not miss it, 36k cambelt intervals and so sensitive to oil level and type its ridiculous, i would except that in a 240 BHP v6 that sounds great but not an under powered 4 pot like the JTS. and the direct injection causes all kinds of issues.
a big part of owning an Italian car is the exterior and interior styling and the handling, in that respect the derv delivers no less than the petrol models do, now lets talk performance , my 230 BHP hybrid turbo'd Blackline would destroy your JTS, it's a beautiful machine and turns heads where ever it goes, 450 nm of torque to go with it and 50-60 MPG ..even when I spank it I get 45 mpg. in fact it would be a very close run thing between it and a busso in all but noise, it would better the 3.2 in both torque and economy.
the only thing better about your car is the sound at idle and TBH if you have not changed the variator recently even that is questionable..!
and then on top of it you get personal by referencing the Omen..? WTF mate if you want anyone to take your opinion seriously you can't resort to personal insults...and calling people names...Damien didn't insult you, he just called you opinion ccockwomble, claptrap, tosh or nonsense would have sufficed but he decided to get creative with his language.
I lam sure your car is the right one for you and good for you, but I am sick of the petrol snobs on this forum having a pop at Italian cars with diesel engines saying in some way its not right,it's an outdated idea.
Maserati have just made a diesel Ghibli, Porsche have the Panamera, and the Giulia,Giulietta and Mito all have diesel options that are and will be very popular.
you might not approve ,but the days of diesel engines being confined too heavy plant are over.
get with the times.
there is room for us all.
