Quaife diff bearings
For anyone that has fitted a quaiffe diff themselves. I just took the diff to a garage to get the bearings pressed on and with the diff back the bearing on the "empty" end is not tight against the casing. The empty end refering to the fact that it does not carry the crown wheel. On the old diff, both bearings are tight but on the new one there is a 1mm gap. The guy fitting it said he felt the press stop at that point and that indicated to him that it couldn't go any further. He said he couldn't go any tighter or he would risk damaging the bearing.
Is this correct for these diffs?
