OBD Code 0120

Hello all,
I have a 2003 2.0 156 JTS which has been giving MCF faults on and off since it was bought 6 months ago. It has had new coils, and a new throttle body position sensor, and yet the MCF light still keeps coming on. I have in my frustration bought an OBD code reader which is telling me that the error code is 0120, Throttle position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Malfunction, which agrees with what I've been told by a couple of Alfa dealers (one of whom said if its not the throttle body sensor it'll need a new CAT for 1500 but no evidence to support this, I must have MUG written on my forehead eh?)
Can anyone with a lot more knowledge than me (which in truth isn't that hard) tell me if the fault is likely to be at the engine side or maybe as I'm beginning to suspect at the pedal sensor? If it is the pedal sensor, where can I get a replacement/how difficult are they to install?
Thanks in advance.
