Recently purchased a 147 ti lusso and now have my first alfaism.
The unlock / look door buttons wont work of the fob (3 button remote with no led light)
The boot release button still works, the indicators on the wing don't flash and there is no audible beep from inside the car when the fob buttons are pressed.
Is it just a change of battery in the fob or does it need a ECU reset, any help appreciated
I have the same issue on mine. The car is programmed to the key which is fairly complex and requires specialist equipment to do the immobilizer. It's less involved to program the remote key fob to unlock/lock the doors. This does however require you to know what the alarm code is.
1. You have the key code and alarm code card with the car
I think they are two different codes, may depend on year, I'm not sure. They might be the same. Either way you need a code.
a. Get Multi ECU Scan (MES) and program the car to the key yourself. It will prompt for the code which must match what is in the Body Computer.
b. Take the car to a decent Alfa Specialist and they will program it for you (but you still need the code!).
2. Speak to an Alfa Specialist/Dealer and ask them to order the codes from Alfa.
Note: If the ECU or especially the Body Computer has ever been changed (ECU failure was an issue on these cars, so I suspect many have) they may not hold the correct code any longer.
I've still not resolved mine as the code I have doesn't work, so next step is to order the codes from Alfa and go from there.
You have to go through a similar process to add a new key to the car, but this 100% requires a dealer/specialist.
If the code I get from Alfa doesn't work then it's basically a case of new Body Computer / ECU and matching keys. Total pain in the bum really.
