It is worth the wait, I was half-looking for a good few months. I wanted a 147 GTA/GT 3.2. Saw a GT that was accurately described, it wasn't the best but crucially the seller didn't advertise it as the best! I knew the tyres needed replacing, they were decent but only had about 1000 miles left in them etc. It was as described, which for me goes a long way. This way I could factor in costs to my budget accurately.
I don't mind doing work to it, as that way I know it has been done. Things like scorpion/wizard exhausts are so common now just because of the stock exhausts rotting away - the original exhaust centre/backbox from Alfa is about £800 iirc which is ridiculous!
Expect a Q2 or quaife to be fitted, and things like the air intake to have been changed to a silicone one, ARB to have been polybushed.
You will be hard pressed to find out of the box, but with the 'mods' mentioned, they are accepted as better for longevity.
For me the jury is still out on lowering..

agree with all the above except the lowering.
they look like a 4x4 at the back if not, way to much space between the wheel and arch. as well as the fact that the stock suspension is awful, lowering improves the handling ten fold if done correctly and the look of the car a hundred fold. when ever I see one not lowered now I think it looks a bit funny.
one of the reasons I don't own a 3.2 is because although they are available at not too far off the money I would get for my Derv I could not go back to stock suspension,ARB's or No Quaife.
most don't have it as it wasn't to my knowledge done as a factory option when the 3.2's were in production.
so potentially I could buy at 4-5k and then have to blow over a grand on handling mods straight away...there is no way I could go back to stock handling, even for a Busso.
the only ones that don't need the quaife are the 2.0 JTS and 1.8 twinnie. and the vast majority of GT's on the road do not have it.
It came as an option in the Blackline, and the clover 150, but was only standard in the Q2 and clover 170.
240 BHP FWD car with no LSD? Alfa ,what were you thinking !
bottom line is ''out of the box'' is NOT what you want.
if you can get it you want.
quaife LSD .scorpion or similar exhaust, as they won't rust. an eibach arb kit and matched aftermarket quality springs and shocks.
or buy it for 3k (they are out there) and spend that again on it on a cam belt, sevice and all of the above, oh and probably front wishbones, maybe clutch.anti roll bar bushes..etc etc etc...
