Help air flow meter

Help ! changed the airflow meter on my 2.0 156 petrol and now all i can smell is petrol ! consumption has shot up as well. Have you to reset the ecu after this ? The airflow meter was a patent part off ebay !! Can anyone give me idea's ..

That may be your answer.

Try disconnecting it and/or putting the old one back one.

ebay, patent part, oh no ....

I guess you've got a dud .... who did you buy it from? Very few are from reputable sources .. most are fake Bosch parts and not made correctly. Send it back and get your money back ... they probably will refuse and if you are (un)lucky send you a replacement .... send that back and demand you money back ....

Disconnect the MAF and try the car? Still smell fuel? Does it run better disconnected? Put the old one back ... does it do the same? You shouldn't need to reset the ECU .. it will relearn over a few days ... but if fuel consumption is higher now with the new one, something is very, very wrong.
