Set off for work yesterday afternoon about 1/2 three. Got to the first junction at the bottom of the road where I live and was hit up the backside by a 53 Corsa with 4 youths in it (2 of each gender).
The pulled along side and I prepared to get out to obtain their details. However, the undertook me, moved to the 'wrong' side of the road and passed a line of traffic waiting to turn right. I followed them down the road (feeling a little miffed they'd were doing a runner) for about 1/8 mile. They were weaving in and out of the traffic and under/overtaking in an attempt to get as far away as possible. Since they had the jump on me (and driving like a maniac) I managed to catch up with them AFTER they'd ploughed into the back of a Toyota 4x4 and pulled in tight behind. This didn't stop them trying to drive away (again) and they bumped the front of my car before giving up and fleeing the scene.
The cars (mine, the Corsa and Toyota) were stuck across a busy junction (mini roundabout) and I managed to reverse mine into a car park, the Toyota pulled into a side street and I pushed the Corsa to the kerbside.
When the Police arrived, I found out the car had been stolen.
It looks like I'll need (at least) a front and rear bumper fitted. But there is now an odd knocking from the front n/s suspension.
I managed to get the car to the Police station and then home after giving a statement.
Any ideas what damaged may have been caused in such an incident (airbags DID NOT deploy), and what options are re. insurance claim. I'm fully comp with protected no claims, but I'd hate to see it written off due to a not at fault accident. I looked long and hard for this v6 with the options I wanted, and have only had it a fortnight (the documents are still with the DVLA!!)
Sorry for the sob story, but I had to vent.
Nobody who stayed at the scene was injured, so thats good. Given the roundabout is controlled by a crossing warden as there's a large school around the corner, it could have been much, much worse given their erratic driving.
