Re: 2.4 JTD clutch changed 1300 miles ago and it's slipping
That doesn't sound good. I got a new uprated clutch kit from CG Motorsport for £130 off eBay as a direct replacement for the OEM kit.
It sounds like your clutch is knackered. Let me guess, it slips in 4th and 5th if you floor it around 2,000rpm? I'd advise not doing this anyway, it puts a huge strain on the drivetrain, better to drop a gear and use the revs (more power but less torque)
Standard clutches seem to be a weak link, I put in the cars third clutch (the uprated one) at 110K miles. Now you're pushing propobably 300lbft with the 180 map, my mad map is supposedly 325lbft although I haven't had it RR'd.
If the bite is right at the top, it seems like its worn out. But then, its a standard recon clutch taking higher torque than standard. Standard torque is 225lbft, which is quite low for a big-ish diesel..
Good news, the juddering setting off is flywheel, nowt to worry about mines done it since 92,000 miles when I bought the car (on its 2nd clutch, and original flywheel - now at 121K )
Hope this helps.
