So I started on the uppers today, first real mechanical job I've tackled. Oh my god, everything that could go wrong did. It took me about 3.5 hrs to get the first drop link off. I used moll grips, breaker bar, 2 cans of penetrating spray, blow torch. In the end I drilled out the Allan key nut.
Next I split the ball joint damaging the boot and the thread. New wishbones as well as bushes now.
Next I struggled to get the alu wishbone mount off of the shock/Spring. In my panic I undid the top mount bolt and promptly realised why this is a big no! I spent 2 hours jacking the aluminium v shaped strut to compress the spring and get the bolt through the hole in the chassis.
I'm now going to have to get hold of an angle grinder to remove the lower droplink bolt and no idea how I will put the new drop links in tight enough. Why did I start this?! Thankfully Laurence and Paul at Autolusso have been giving me advice, think I would have burnt my car to the ground by now otherwise!
