Tyres to replace F1 GSD3's
I know tyres have been discussed at length, but hopefully you can help.....
My 156 has been making some horrible wheel bearing type noises for a while which I have been trying to trace. The front offside wheel bearing was replaced last week as it was making hell of a racket, but I am still getting some noise, especially between 20 and 30mph, although you can hear in at most speeds.
The garage (Alfa specialist) had the car back for further investigation and have found that it is the tyres causing the noise, even though it was the same when swapping tyres front to back. They fitted another set of wheels/tyres as a test and apparently the noise disappeared completely.
I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's and although there is some wear on the inner sides (pretty normal I understand) there is still plenty of tread left on the front set, so I am a bit hacked off. I had problems with a pair of F1's 'graining' and becoming noisy previously, so I think it's time to change the type of tyres!
I love the grip/handling of the F1's so what can you recommend that gives similar performance?
