I had the 166 predcessor the 164 2.0 T Spark and it was a very reliable car. I was considering a 166 3.0 V6, but the missus is not very good at driving big cars. The main issues with the 166 are:
The Intergrated Control System can play up and cause all sorts of problems, make sure car has the disc in the service wallet.
All the electric options work inc windows.
The A/C WORKS as replacing it / repairing it is a nightmare.
Avoid the 2.5 V6 engine with the steptronic auto box.
Go for a 2 Litre Twinnie with a 6 speed box ( 150 Bhp ) or a 3.0 V6 with a 6 speed box ( 230 Bhp ), if you can stretch to it go for a late plate 2005/55 166 3.2 Ti, Rare as golddust ( 260 Bhp ) Do not pay anymore than £10k for one, Best colours are Volcano Black and Nuvola Blue ( Pearlescent )
