Alfa 147 jtd engine mounting

Hello to all.

We are a newbie here and this is our first post.

We have an ALFA 147 JTD, 115BHP, 1.9 JTD.

It has a very annoying rattling noise from over near the timing belt/auxillary belt area which we have been unable to identify.

At the moment we are looking at the engine mounting, which consists of a metal pot, with a rubbber mounting and lead type weight within.

Is it normal for the rubber mounting to be detached from the metal pot and should the lead block be stuck in the pot or should it be able to slide up and down.

Also, the lead block has a ridge in it, ---ie , at the bottom the outer circumference is less than it is at the top.

Thanks in advance..

It might be easier to post a picture of it if possible? I'm not sure what a fresh mount should look like but I can compare it to mine and see!

When does this noise occur, idle only or throughout the rev range ? Or is it not engine speed related, more of a general suspension type noise ?

Rattling from the Aux belt area can be the alternator freewheel pulley or the crankshaft aux belt pulley.

Hello ,

Sorry for not getting back sooner i have been a little busy ,
my rattle in the distribution belt area has gone

I went around the engine with a crow bar to release pressures , and then a jack under certain points of the engine

In the end , in unscrewed the 3 bolts holding the engine mounting on the front right corner next to the distribution belt.

The led was well worn , to check if the rattle was coming from here i put everything back together with some silicone glue and tightened all of it a bit tighter.

Result , the led must have been wobbling about in the engine mount bowl.

here are some photos of the parts (engine mounting with led , rubber seat and bowl)
