Finding and repairing wiring harness faults

Does anyone have any tips for finding and fixing faults in the wiring harnesses?

I've traced the cause of my non-working rear wiper to a single wire somewhere between the column stalks and a connector in the boot. This is supposed to pass through connector D20 underneath the main fusebox but I can't find it and am at bit of a loss on how to proceed.

Any advice gratefully received...
