what is 'normal 'Brake pedal feel on JTD diesel?

Hi Guys,

with engine running my brake pedal will be solid and then sinks a little bit before it becomes solid again.

Is is a diesel.

With engine off, the pedal is rock solid.

Is this normal behavior for a diesel due to the vacuumpump operation?

Thanks and keep it together

Think it is normal for Diesels due to their pump (as you mentioned).
If you keep you foot hard on the brake it will probably sink further...

After letting the car stand overnight, I get two to three applications of the brakes before the pedal goes solid. I think you have a, probably minor, vacuum leak. After all, if the engine stalls while driving you still want your brakes to work, so a non-return valve must be fitted.

How long can you leave the car before the pedal goes solid? That will give an indication of how bad the leak is.
