Rough idle following mis-fuel/week from hell!

About 5 weeks ago, i had what can only be described as the motoring week from hell!
Firstly my wishbones/droplinks/bushes were replaced (again) on the wed, so 300...but wear and tear, fair enough i suppose (well wear & tear on a Alfa anyway), but then on the Saturday i filled my JTDm with a full tank of unleaded..doh! ...and actually drove it a couple of miles before it conked out too! So another 300 for the privilege of getting it drained etc (thanks AA...not). And then.................on the wed after that my clutch went on the M69! 725 :/ So approx 1300 in the space of 7 days!!

I was going to post about it before but was trying my hardest to erase that week from memory!

Anyway getting back on topic, after my misfuelling, i have to admit it ran pretty sweet...almost as as if nothing had happened, which surprised me a little?

But in the last 10 days the idle on startup is lumpy and quite rough, almost misfiring-ish. It gets better though after driving for even just a minute...although even when fully warm it still doesnt feel 100% as smooth as it did, i would say it feels 80/85% as smooth as it did.

I though it might be the recent cold temps, but today was a fair bit milder and it was still lumpy. Actually today it was lumpy/rough enough for me to stall the car whilst doing a three point turn. But that might also be my rubbish driving.

Anyway didn't change the fuel filter :/ maybe i should have!? Have i damaged the injectors?? :/
Also is it worth filling up with Shell optimax (or whatever its call now)? Or that millers product that gets mentioned?

How much unleaded was it?

A small splash of petrol in with most of a tank of diesel will usually pass through with no long-lasting consequences...

A full tank of unleaded can ruin the fuel system... The petrol doesn't have any of the lubricating properties that diesel fuel has, so you'll be looking at wear in the HP fuel pump, metal in the HP lines, possible damage to the injectors etc.

This here is a pretty good run-down of the potential damage:

You might get lucky and run on for many thousand miles... But this could equally be the last splutters of set of doomed injectors...

Get it to a specialist ASAP I would!
