GT heater/aircon control panel

Hi folks, The heater/aircon control panel in my 2004 GT V6 is doing strange things - the LED's showing selected cabin temp and blower speed aren't all working so difficult/impossible to read. The unit also seems to have a mind of it's own when it comes to operating. Allowing for the cold and wet weather at present, anybody else experienced this problem? Not sure whether it can be fixed or do I need a second mortgage for a new unit?

Sounds like a bad connection within the unit. If it were me, I would pull the unit out of the car, clean the multiplug and socket that connects it to the car. If that doesn't work then I would pull the unit apart and clean and reseat all connections inside the unit, particularly any ribbon cables.
