GT diesel, engine oil cooler change

Hi guys,

Hoping for some learned intel how best to tackle changing the leaking engine oil cooler on my 2007 GT JTDM. I have a new genuine Alfa Romeo oil cooler to go on it - some know how, shared experiences on how best to tackle it would be most welcome.

Thanks and regards

Changing the cooler is easy enough, strip the front bumper off, remove the air ducting around it and then it's 2 nuts on top and 1 on the bottom in the middle, then there are 2 bolts connecting it to the pipe work, but that may be where your problems start, as the inlet/outlet pipes tend to weld themselves to the cooler due to corrosion.

If you are lucky you will get the pipes out without damaging them then refit the new cooler into place.

Also worth getting some new nitrile O rings to seal the pipes back in, cannot remember the size off the top of my head, and also give those pipes a good check over as they can spring leaks as well, and even a clean up and a lick of Hammerite or something similar to stop rusting if they are not too bad.

Hope it goes well
