Re: Blackline Surprise
I can see both sides of the story. If you look at alfaromeo.it it has the Blackiline listed, but only in diesel. It has the same wheels, chrome bits, bose and leather (although they have two other colour combinations available), but the parking sensors are an option. So it could be that Alfa UK decided to offer the JTS as a retrofit option, but on the other hand, they could have put in a special order to the factory for these.
If they were put together at Portbury, it would certainly explain why mine took 5 weeks from arriving in the country to being delivered to the dealer, with the only explanation offered by the dealer: "the GT's are taking a long time to get through the PDI centre at the moment". But it wouldn't explain why a car I ordered in May had a build slot for June if it was a stock car waiting for a retrofit.
IMHO a plausable explanation would be that ALFA UK were taken by surprise at the demand for the Blacklines. Realising they could sell more than they ordered from the factory and that a new factory order would take 8-12 weeks to get to the country, decided to retrofit some stock models to fulfill the orders.
