Some more 'Knicker Twisting' & 'Willy Waving' coming up
Thanks for that I wasn't sure before how to describe logic
This forum is entertainment value plus sometimes
So now we have someone suggesting GT Blacklines are painted in the UK at the PDI centre (thus the Silver error car)
That should have been the catalast for you to realise the 'factory built' error made, otherwise ARUK would have taken out all the GT Blackline options and sold it as a Silver GT Lusso.
And I'm still wondering why manufacturers of Italian Leather seats or alloy wheels etc. who supply AR would ship to ARUK direct when they could just send them to the factory for fitment, or perhaps ARUK has all this stuff shipped from the AR factory so it can stockpile the stuff.
The car production lines I've seen have the parts arrive from the manufacturer, in the quantities required, a day or so before fitment. Efficiency I think its called?
GT Blacklines were factory built in batches to ARUK spec and shipped, as are 147 Sport, 147 TI's, 159 1.8's and other limited run models. Thats why they say 500 or 400 or whatever number so that it goes through on the production line as a batch.
In the GT Blackline case they were a good seller so further batches have been ordered. Good looking cars them
Thats why when their are no limited run cars left, you can't just go into a dealer and say I want one
No wait, some of you are proposing they can, so the dealer rings ARUK and says I've got a limited run sale, knock one up at the docks for me from the stockpile of unpainted, uninteriored, no spec, half built cars you ordered from the factory.
If you read back over the posts, I stated badge fitting (the badge is horrible and thats why mine was not so easily removed on day one), hi-fi upgrades etc are most likely done in the UK, this is standard practice to almost all car manufacturers, but as all limited run cars are generally all identical spec (save if it comes in a different colour body or interior) they come of the production line in batches. Probably also helps explain why, when your car is a factory build, you get allocated a build slot for your colour/spec etc.
Commercially and Economically viable common sense really
