Engine swap, 156 JTD into a 147 TS.
I was driving my 2003 facelift 156 1.9 JTD 8v up until 4 months ago and while it was getting tired, (wishbones need to be done again, need discs and pads and two calipers not working as they should, needs new shocks and tyres, etc) it was still trundling on. On starting it up last week the airbag and traction control lights are now on permenantly. Effectively I've a good remaped engine (98,000 miles) and gearbox and the rest of the car seems to be falling apart! Bodywork is starting to look tatty too.
A neighbour of mine has a lovely 2004 147 1.6 TS, and the timing belt is after going on the car - I'm sure you can see where this is going. He said I can carry the car away for €250.
Has anyone done an engine transplant from a JTD into a TS? If it's just a case of swaping the engine, gearbox and ecu I'd be on for it, as I've done engine swaps before. If it requires swaping the wiring loom I would be a bit more reluctant as Alfas wiring is far from robust and it's quite possibe that the dashboard being lit up on my 156 is down to poor wiring as it is.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
