Even getting a manual will not stop the money drain. Manuals can have same probs as Seles in the areas of suspension, steering, anti-roll bars, drop links, cambelt failure... This applies to both 147s and 156s.
I put a thread on earlier entitled 'cost of ownership' and listed the bits I fixed on my 147 Sele in the last two years and NONE of them have been Sele related and can be common to all types.
I'm sorry you've had your problems, and it is a difficult one - sell or keep! I'm getting that way with my 147. So, getting a manual version is not going to solve the money drain. Sadly, when I do get rid of mine I will be looking for a different marque of car, one where there is known longevity of parts. It will be a sad day but the money drain, at the moment I can afford it, and inconvenience has to stop sometime.
