DashBoard Dials Clocks Flicker Headlights Throb
Just adding this in case someone searches for this problem
It seems a fair few people have this problem which they are pointed in the direction of the body ecu. Which for some cases it maybe a problem as they can over heat.
But the most popular cause for the Headlight throbbing blowing bulbs or speedo / rev counter etc flickering and shows random errors.
If the battery is ok then it will be the voltage regulator on the alternator.
the reason why this slips through the checks is that it needs to have someone rev the engine while the charge is being checked as when cold and on tick over the regulator works as it should, but when warm and higher revs it fails and charges higher then it should causing all the electrical problems.
Hope this helps someone out there as ive seen alot of threads with the problem but no answers, and since its not a easy job to change the alternator its good to know its a simple DIY job the change the regulator.
take off the connecting cables Unscrew the black plastic cover then remove the 2 screws holding on the regulator and simply slip it off then replace, job done
