I don't think that cut-off connector is anything to do with the heated seat switch. IIRC the switch has 4 wires going to it. The seat symbol on switch should be permanently lit up with the ignition (but can be hard to see in daylight), the little light in the dimples should come on when the button is pressed then of course the power for the heating elements.
Be nice to discover what that connector is, but I'm pretty sure it's unrelated. Pop the switch out and see what voltages you're getting on each of the pins in the connector that's plugged into it. Unless you have the hands of a gorilla it's (just) possible to reach under the trim and push the switch out, if not a small flat screwdriver will lever it out.
