The right place for the lamda sensor!

Hi mates.I have an 147 1.6 105 bhp.I have recently changed the oem manifold which was 4-1 and it had the main cat beneath it.I have placed a manifold from the 156 1.6 euro 2 which it's philosophi it's 4-2-1 and i have also changed the place of the oem cat and now it's new position it is like the 147 with the 120 bhp and it is a different cat than the oem not the same any more.To do this modification i had to make the lamda sensors longer about 1.10 meter both of them. Here's the question. The man who placed my new manifold has placed the first lamda at the edge of the two cylinders. When the exhaust was oem the first lamda sensor used to take data from the 4 cylinders but know with this action it takes from the 2 edge only and it deosn't includes the midle cylinders. Is this a write action from the mechanic?
