My Oil Fell out My Car
The thing about the old 'low oil pressure' warning is that its not always a fault with the electronics. Sometimes it might actually be low oil pressure.
In my case it is. The low pressure warning came on just as I entered B & Q car park (other diy merchants are available). OK , I'm 10 miles from home and there's a gallon of Castrol on the shelf for £8. I think if i top it up and nurse it then I'm in with a chance. after a 2 litre top up (remember the warning just came on) I get going , it's 5 miles before the warning comes back. Another 2 litre top up gets me home.
By now i know its not a leak but more of a gush. You don't lose 4 liters in 10 miles with a leak.
That was yesterday. Today I got under the car and guess what , it's coming from the oil cooler area. Hard to see lying under the car in my drive in 2 degrees , raining and a feeble torch. Its either from the long hose union at the cooler end (fingers crossed) or the cooler itself has pegged it.
I have loosened everything in sight to get the cooler out but I think it needs more , please don't tell me I need the bumper off.
I can't find a guide for removing the cooler for a jtdm alfa gt .
Anybody know the linky ?
Forgot to mention , broke my wheel brace trying to loosen the wheel nuts. They really make sure they're tight at the tyre shop huh!
