Cost of 147 Sele Ownership
I've now had my '51 plate for two years and really enjoy the driving experience. With accepting redunancy at the end of this year I'm now taking stock of the cost of ownership.
In two years the 147 has had:
Two tyres for MOT (accepted wear and tear at 29,000 mls)
New rear box (accepted wear and tear at 35,000)
Two new batteries
Front discs (at 25,000 mls)
Front discs maintenance (at 25,000 mls)
Full set of belts inc. Variator (at 36,000 mls)
TODAY - new steering rack needed (at 44,000 mls)
Apart from the first two methinks this car is expensive to maintain, all I need now is for the Actuator to go! Let's not tempt fate. I've not put any prices on the thread because that would make me even more surprised. Surely, if this is common then there's something serious with Alfa longevity.
Am I experiencing the expected maintenance for a 147? If it is then ALFA are having a laugh!
I was at my Alfa Indie discussing the steering rack when I noticed a '07 plate JTD up on the ramp, not being serviced - having a new rack fitted! Which made me think - have Alfa's quality improved? Debateable.
Ah well, I made my choice.
