your local motor factor will probably charge less than shop4parts, they usually do.
you can test the sensor's circuit using a multimeter, check for continutiy from the ecu connector to the cam sensor connector. i dont know the pins to use on the ecu connector because i dont have my manual at work. also test for ground on all the wires (with both sensor and ecu disconnected first obviously) because a short to earth will cause this problem too, then check for continutiy between the wires incase there is a short between them, there should be no continutiy, all wires in the circuit are isolated. if all tests ok then replace the sensor.
a scrapyard pipe would be my choice, either that or one of the many 156's for breaking on ebay, or even a DIY repair using some silicone for now.
