I'm no expert but as far as I'm aware coilovers are the 'gold standard'. You can adjust height and stiffness etc so ideal for regular track use. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can help me out?
I'm in the process of getting suspension sorted and can't justify the expense of coilovers on my '99 1.8 156.
What do you want from your 1.6TS? If you're not doing it up as a track car I would save money and spend it on other areas ie eibach roll bars, powerflexing etc. Or stuff like updrading to 1.8 cams.
