if it was my car i would get a scrapyard head (£100 max) and fit it. if you cant do the work yourself a garage will charge a couple of hundred at most. its an easy job. if the bottom end is damaged then you need a whole engine, which can double the cost, but the chances are that will not be the case.
repairing your engine will usually work out more expensive, labour is what costs money and repairing it takes longer than replacing.
a snapped belt is nothing to worry about, it happens to loads of cars, just buy scrapyard parts and get a local independant garage to do the work and you'll save a fortune. if you have any doubts about it after the repair then sell it to some mug and move on.
