Crank sensor does not control the fuel pump. Fuel pump is switched on with ignition on, and switched off by the ECU when it sees fuel pressure hit target.
With the ignition on, the yellow engine light should be on, indicating power to the ECU. If the yellow light is off when ignition is on, its likely you have no power to the ECU, relays in front of the battery are prone for doing this, it should be the one directly below [INJ] on the relay cover unless someone has had them off and moved the bases around before. Small red relay.
Crank sensor controls injector opening & coil pack firing.
Is there plenty of fuel in the car? With the fuel hose disconnected, the fuel pump should run for around 15-20 seconds continuously pumping fuel out, as the ECU will not see the pressure increase and not switch it off until it times out.
