2006 147 1.6TS with loads of problems
I've not posted on here in a good while but it's come to MOT, road tax and service time for my car and I think it's going to be too expensive this time!
Road tax: £265 for the year
Service: needs a cam belt so that's not going to be cheap
MOT: it's going to fail because of the problems below:
1. Strong smell of fuel in the rear of the car. I'd be surprised if they didn't pick up on this. It happened when Mangoletsi removed the petrol tank to replace the fuel sender. Although they didn't charge me for the work as they didn't think it had resolved the problem (it actually did), I think they've damaged a seal. Everyone suggests it's the fuel pump but Mangoletsi say it's the fuel filler neck. I contacted Alfatune about having a replacement petrol pump and it was about £350 + labour
2. Front suspension knocks - probably the anti-roll bar bushes again. This wasn't massively expensive but it's adding up
3. Loud whining noise at 70mph - I've been ignoring this one for 2 years but it's getting annoying.
4. Starting the car seems slow. Either it's linked to the alternator not properly charging the battery (not sure it's this though because it always starts) or probably starter motor/ignition coil.
I don't want this to be the case, but I'm probably just throwing money at this thing only for something else to go wrong. Everyone else I know has cars that just go on forever and they always have money. I never have money because I'm constantly fixing my car!
If there is a way I can get it fixed cheaply, I'll give it one more chance. Does anyone have any recommendations/ideas on price for the above work in the Merseyside area?
