Hello Sorry to bring up an already covered problem, however after searching, I can't find an answer to my question.
My partner has a 2003 156 140bhp JTD and it had the MCSF error. When I checked the code with my odb reader it was error PO401. As I have a 2007 150bhp GT, I tried putting my EGR valve and MAP sensor into her engine, cleared the fault and then took it for a drive, all appeared to be fine but the MCSF re appeared.
I then decided to order a new MAP sensor and EGR valve for her 156. When I went to fit the EGR valve I noticed that the EGR that was on her car has 5 pins in the socket and a metal solenoid body, the replacement has a plastic solenoid body and only 2 pins in the socket (pins 1 and 5).
My question is did Alfa use two different EGR valves or are pins 1 and 5 only used anyway? The reason is there is no difference with the new EGR valve fitted and using my MAP sensor with the fault cleared, the engine feels flat under 2500 rpm and then boost kicks in and the MCSF error reappeared within 30 miles.
Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.
