***** me Joe I'd give you £6k for it at least!
Not sure I'd even sell mine for £5k, and I've put one helluva lot less into mine than you have in to yours...
thanks Ed ,appreciated..
thing is though, its a very limited market that would pay way above and beyond the current market value of a 7 plate blackline with 107k on the clock (around 3k)..My car IS special, and the condition both mechanically and cosmetically is excellent but the buyer would have to appreciate that and understand Alfa's and GT's in particular to value the mods and outstanding handling.
99% buyers don't understand and may even be put off by the higher insurance premiums on a modded car ,they may also assume (correctly) that the car has been driven hard. IMO they should be driven hard and when something goes pop replace with better/stronger..that has been my policy and 36k in with my Blackie and all is well.
the car I was looking at to replace it with was a 99 ph2 GTV with a SMF and GTA clutch and six speed box, aero kit, quaife, recent cambelt and polybushed rear suspension.
That was up at £5.5 and the guy would have done a deal..thing is I drove a similar if not slightly better example and it didn't grab me, I would have sacrificed the boot space, usable rear seats and honestly I just think the GT is a more striking car. so I was left with the reality that for what my car is worth I just can't replace it with an Alfa I would want. another GT is groundhog day and there is not a 3.2 out there at even 6k would handle as well as mine, so it would be bilstiens, eibachs and all that all over again. really just to have a different soundtrack. I don't love the derv sound wise but cannot fault the performance!
so I have elected now to forge ahead and finish, will phone Ned on monday and arrange to have the GTA ,SMF conversion and finally I will fit the FMIC I have in the garage..push the map to within a small margin of its sensible limits and keep some funds aside for injectors if required. upper wishbones need doing again but will do myself so minor expense really.
cosmetically I will go ahead with my plan to spray the splitter and light covers body colour and match the grille, chrome bumper inserts ,mirrors and door handles to my freshly painted anthracite wheels, no cost there as I have the paint and the skills to do it having worked as a coach builder in my youth.
I think 240 BHP is do-able on the non clovers with this hybrid set up so I am looking forward to the end result.
I also have a dent guy booked and a guy to do the drivers seat bolster. then a good detailing session with my MOP and some work on the lights and the car will be a minter.
its a very small % of what I have spent already to do these last bits so I might as well...
I will then keep her until the Giulia has become affordable on the used market or perhaps buy my next car by PCP, the petrol turbo is almost certainly the one I will have and by then it will be out of warranty so ripe for some ''tinkering''
bottom line you are spot on with more than 6k as a value as that is what it would cost me to buy another Blackline or most likely a Clover 170 and do it all again.
