156 rev counter change ...How ?

Hi again - searched teh forums for a while and come to the conclusion that the reason my bulb failure warning lilght is on is due to the (what appears to be) common rev counter problem. YEP - ive checked the number plate lights etc lol and all is well there and i do have the faint light constantly on on the offside rear light.

So anyway - im gonna look on ebay for a rev counter - anything i need to be wary of ? I assume i need one from the same engined car as miine ?

finally ow easy is it to change the rev counter ? is it just remove bits of facia and then unplug the old one and plug in the new one or is it more complex ?

Any advice greatly recieved cheers

one screw holds the cowl in, remove that and the cowl pulls out.
two screws hold the rev counter in, remove them and it just lifts out.
unplug conectors on the back and replace.

should take 5 mins max.

I'm not sure, but there might be some colour options - such as the colour of the background and the numerals. Check the e-bay photos against your instrument.

There should be a part number on the current unit starting with 5 or 6 IIRC. You should match it. I have a telephone number for some people that supply Jamie Porter with his parts. Very reasonable.

New speedo was £130

Main issues are 4 cylinder or 6, petrol or diesel, what colour is the engine management light - red like an injector, or yellow like an engine block - oh and what colour gauge background - black or silver.

Match all those issues and you'll be OK....

If you're struggling, call me on 07976 384980 and I may be able to help......
