alfa gt clunk from suspension

A couple of months ago I hit a bad pot hole at about 30 mph on a country lane... ever since there has been a loud clunk when driving over small bumps or uneven roads.

It isn't the usual squeak or creak that I've had on previous 147's / 156's etc... it sounds/feels like its coming from behind the pedals.

A garage changed the upper arm and some kind of bush, but to no avail. A local Alfa-specialist changed the lower arm on Monday, but that too hasn't made a difference.

He reckons its either the anti rollbar or the shock itself... with the ARb probably being a 200 job and the shocks circa 300... but neither is guaranteed!

I'm just trying my best to limit this to a 250 pot hole, rather than a 500 + pot hole.

Many thanks

Complain to the local highways make a note of where it was .
Then send an estimate to cover both.

If its a clunk behind the pedals it is probably the anti roll bar as that is near enough where it is. however a pothole in my expirence is more likely to damage the shock rather than the Anti roll bar.

Did they check the drop links when they changed the upper or lower arms ?

To eliminate the anti roll bar, unbolt and remove the drop links then tie the roll bar ends to the strut with cable ties or similar. Take it for a drive and if no clunk, you've found the culprit.
