Alfa 156 1.9JTD SW swap for a 2.0 Selespeed ?
Hi all..hmm, conundrum..so, I purchased my third 156 in January from Speciality cars in Huddersfield. I thought I knew my 156's so although highish miles at 80k, it had all the documentation...service history impeccable, so I paid above the odds for "peace of mind"! Well, that's exactly what I don't have. I've replaced one drive shaft £250, upper suspension arm, numerous bushes, drop links, windscreen, diesel injector overhaul, new discs & pads and full clean of the exhaust etc...but still the problems continue. Now I have the electronic MSCS warning pop up over 3,000 revs and the engine cuts into safe mode, there is an intermitent wierd rattle come vibration noise in the engine when you come off the revs and the garage says I now have to replace the inner front anti roll bar bushes,to stop the clinking over bumps (they need to drop the subframe so labour labour labour)......I'm kinda at the end of my patience with this one..it's an 05 with 88k. The warranty company wont cover anything as they say its wear and tear....worthless warranty! I have been offered a fair deal on a 07 156 2.0 TS Selespeed with 72k on the clock and am pondering whether to cut my losses........my two previous 156's were low mileage Twin sparks and I had no problems with either.......If I change I'm taking a hit but to be honest I'd take it for 2 years troublefree motoring in a twin spark again.......what do you guys think of my current diesel issues (its my first and last foray into the diesel world) and the 2.0 Selespeed ?
