Alfa 156 V6 not starting after head rebuild
After the cambelt snapped on my Alfa I decided to sort it out myself, as I've had the heads off many cars before, but none of them had been such a pain in the arse as this one. Anyway, I got the heads off, had to replace 6 valves and put it all back together again, with new gaskets, cambelt, idlers, tensioner, etc. Not an easy job at all and required lots of specialist tools, mainly for removing the crankshaft pully and setting up the timing.
Anyway, it's all back together and it turns over but won't start. Sounds like it wants to but just not getting there. I know what I need to do next but thought I'd ask if there were any common problems that these cars have, like with coil packs, relays, etc before I go fiddling around.
I have checked the timing and I'm 100% certain it's correct, so what I'm going to do next is:
- Compression test
- Spark test
- Fuel test (I can hear the fuel pump going)
I'm thinking it's probably ignition as the car has been stood for about 3 months so maybe a little damp.
