worth mentioning I had the EGR delete and re-map before the swirl flap delete..at a guess the car is running around 195BHP that's what Loz says the map is worth with a healthy engine...its certainly rapid!
I have to say 100% there was a small but noticable reduction in low down torque, as I had already had the map I noticed it, however going from a standard car to a mapped EGR and swirl flap delete you will only notice gains...the AL map is awesome, progressive yet sensible, there are more aggressive maps around but I think the AL one has just the right balance and will do no harm to a healthy engine.
re the power loss,I got around the problem by adding a de-cat down pipe which eradicated any loss of power in the lower revs due to the reduction in back pressure and consequent quicker turbo spool..so if you are looking for a further gain this is the mod to do next...a stated earlier though from a standard car you will NOT notice it!
it would be sensible to budget for a replacement clutch as if there is any weakness in that area the map will find it, I was advised of this before I went ahead by Loz and i'm sure Ned will/has already mentioned it. they are not in the habit of letting you blindly proceed with work without making you aware of potential problems.
and finally against driving around a time bomb even if the loss were not somehow recoverable its minor compared to the peace of mind enjoyed after the flap delete is done...do it, your engine and wallet will thank you! as this is far cheaper than the likely rebuild and new turbo required if one one of those flaps does let go..
stupid design really, EGR and swirl flaps its a recipe for disaster.
