Just a couple of things
"A decent amp is always a must and a 10" sub has a lot more control than a 12" due to it being tighter."
Wrong, it is the amp that controls the speaker/sub not the other way around.
Wrong again, 12" moves more air them a 10" sub again is the amp that controls the sub
The most commun error in custom builds that the box/case were the sub goes in does not suit the sub resonant frequency and what this means is the sub will play out of its frequency and cause the cone to move out of "control"
"I've got a 1300watt 10" Vibe sub with built in amp in the boot. It doesn't take up too much room and really makes the difference to the standard soundsystem."
I believe that any sub will make a big diference in any sound system (home/car) what I don't believe is that you have a "1300 Watt 10" Vibe" sub unless it is rated in PMPO.
To Barny 156
Were the sub(s) you got allready in the boxes ?
Do you know if the boxes were custom made for those subs ?
The JBL GTO's are a good mid class amps if used properly.
