156 Fog light fuse

The front fogs on my 156 don't work, I checked the bulbs yesterday and they seem to be fine.

When you turn them on the dash light comes on so I think the relay is okay.

I looked for the fuse to see if that was gone, accoording to the handbook it is behind a cover in the glove box, however I cant for the life of me get the cover off.

Do I need to take the whole glove box out?

Hi, the fusebox is just above your knees, drivers side, large screw driver flatblade or coin...They drop down with age anyway, so it might have a self tapper or something in the top edge...
I think its something lost in the translation from Italian to English..

Not there on my car? Mine's a 2001, maybe they changed it on newer models or wagons.

Re: 156 Fog light fuse

The relay and fuse box in the glove box is another bit of that zany Italian sense of humour. You have to push the cover hard towards the direction it hinges from while pulling downwards. It's held by a strong spring clip, and pushing the cover towards the hinge will reduce the overlap of the spring clip with the surrounding frame, hence making it easier (slightly) to release.

Once you've got the cover off, see if you can find a helpful gynaecologist to delve inside for you. If you can't, have some sticky plasters handy. There are four fuses and four relays, including both for fog lamps. You should be able to get the fuses out without removing the glove box, but I had to remove mine to get the relays out.

A mirror and torch will help.

Good luck.
