156 2.0 JTS clutch

How long are they expected to last on average? Mine has started to give off the smell of burning and a little waft of smoke after being held on a hill etc. I've always been quite gentle on the clutch and will use the handbrake rather than the clutch when on a hill where possible. No signs of it slipping yet and gear changes are still smooth & easy. It's done 43,000 miles

Re: 156 2.0 JTS clutch

on average the first change is at approx 70-90k.

for it to need changing at 43k it would need to have been abused every day.

the burning smell is due to your clutch control, you are playing it at to high an rpm, drop the revs and engage the clutch more and you'll greatly reduce clutch wear, or even better use the handbrake.
