Question Recommended gearbox oil for an '04 GT JTD? GL-4, GL-5, GL4+?

Hi all from Spain

I'm the owner of an Dec '04 GT JTD with 160k km on the clock. Gearbox oil was changed a few thousand miles ago but I noticed reverse gear being quite difficult to select. It gets easier selecting another gear before engaging reverse, without stop pressing the clutch.

Also the 1st to 2nd gear change seems like gearbox "passing" one teeth before engagin second gear; it doens't grind at all, but you notice the delay when syncing 2nd gear, getting a slow gear change.

I'm afraid of the gearbox was filled with a GL-5 oil, causing the synchros to be excessively lubricated so thought about changing oil type. User manual recommends a 75w-85 GL4+ oil (GL4+ = GL4/GL5 compatible) but there are some controversials about that. The 170cv edition for example recommends a GL-4 only gearbox oil, being pretty the same gearbox I think.

Would be gratefull to receive advice about wich oil should I fill the gearbox with. Though about Redline MT90 (or MT85, GL-4 both) or any Castrol, but this last one has some variants betwen GL4, GL5,....

P.D. Forgot to put an image of my Alfa :P Nowadays it has the restyling wiper arms and wing mirrors.

When I had the clutch+dmf replaced, I gave mine Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75W-80. Almost 30,000 km later and still shifts like a dream! (Well to be honest it's a bit notchy when cold but it's always had this)

Thanks for your response snaker.
I read in italian forums about castrol transaxle 75w90, an api gl-4+ synthetic oil, making gear change less notchy. Maybe I give it a try.
