Where the top hose enters this aluminium pipe.
This aluminium pipe is bolted to the cylinder head, the leak appears to be coming from there.
Pretty bad. It's coming out, almost as fast as i can just about fill it up.
It has a metal crush gasket, which upon inspection looks OK, other than the painted surface (I assume sealant) is starting to lift off.
I cleaned this up and tried to seal with silicone to get the car limping.
I left this over night, but it still leaked.
So yesterday, i decided to make a temporary gasket with gasket paper and gasket compound, but it still leaked.
I've ordered the gasket from my local Fiat dealer, and this should be here tomorrow, however, after two failed attempts to temporarily fix it, i'm starting to question whether its something more serious.
I see. I assume that it's the bigger of the two hoses where the leak is, thankfully it doesn't sound like a common fault so hopefully just a 1-time repair. Is the hose itself in good condition, for the extra few quid I'd replace that too.
Hoses look fine.
The water leak is defiantely coming from below the housing where it bolts to the head.
However, i'm concerened that two attempts to bodge it had no effect what so ever.
Didn't even stem the flow.
View is very limited, it's almost impossible to see if there's anything thing else under there.
Fitted the new gasket last night, and it still leaks.
After removing the timing cover, it's now looking like it's the water pump, with the water somehow being redirected down the back of the rear timing cover and out underneath the rigid pipe gasket.
It's booked in to my local backstreet mechanic to sort on Thursday.
