Wheel bearings?

How much to do 156 bearings cost?

If they are on the way out what sort of sound do they make?

IMy tires are making a high pitched sqeaking noise. I think its from the rear driver side wheel, but also, I think the front tires are making the same sound, when I steer right, it disappears, but returns when I turn left.

Im feeling suicidal driving.

Re: Wheel bearings?

You're in the right place.
They make a droning sound.
It seems that whatever's wrong with your car is on the RH front hub.
I think the fitting might cost more than the bearings.
I shopped around all of the usual places and found the best deal by emailing Buypartsby.co.uk for a quote. (in my case £33 for the rears and £12 for the fronts)

Other vendors included Shop4parts.co.uk, Partco & Cafco motor factors.

Re: Wheel bearings?

Sounds to me like your back brakes are sticking. I had high pitched squeaks a while ago and it was the break pads on both back calipers, they were seized against the disc and constantly scuffing.

I took them out, and cleaned everything up with a fine file, then put it all back together with copperslip grease on the moving surfaces. Been fine since.
