156, quirks and oddities
I've just bought my first Alfa, a 2001 156 2.4 JTD Veloce.
It seems fantastic, I don't know whether it's because I've upgraded from a Saxo, or because it's genuinely a good car. (I suspect a bit of both!).
A few questions to get me started:
- The engine temperature gauge seems to suggest that the coolant isn't getting hot. Do these engines run quite cool? Are there known faults with thermostats or temperature senders? The temperature gauge gets up to about 70-75 over a long drive which doesn't seem right to me.
- Air conditioning seems pretty mediocre, does it just need to be recharged and have its pollen filter changed? You can hear the compressor working, but don't really get any cold air.
- True, official cambelt service interval please, anyone?!
Sorry if these have all been done to death anywhere else, I did have a bit of a search first! Would appreciate any help.
