Door Lock - key does not fit!
Just thought I's share. My battery recently died without any warning whatsoever at a shopping mall and I needed to get into the car to pop the bonnet to replace the battery. Fortunately there was enough power left to open the doors with the remote. I took out the battery, closed the car and could not lock the doors (because no battery). No problem I thought, I'd just use the key.
To my horror the key would not fit in the door. Since I bought the car second hand, I was thinking someone replaced the outside locks or ignition lock. Fortunately there was someone to look after the car while I went off to buy the battery.
Came back, installed the battery and drove back home. With some positive attitude I started squirting some Q20 / WD20 oil into the lock mechanisms for both front doors. After about 30 min of fiddling I maged to get the key in! Great, then the key was stuck inside the lock. After another 3 min of carefull fiddling I got it out and repeated the process a few times.
So, I believe the key was never used in the door locks for 4 years and they seized from lack of use (as they say use it or loose it).
Perhaps you guys would like to check your lock and keys just incase you get into a similar situation.
