Hi David, maybe i ame wrong. However I had a 2000 gtv 2.0 ts and that was not a fly by wire, now i have a Spider 2005 JTS and that is a fly by wire..
On the gtv i had to do a simple reset several times , lets say every 5 to 7.000 km. That always gived a good result.
On the JTS i had also some problems, not of a fluctuating idle butt always poor acceleration and faults that came back on that moment the car went on sort of save mode. I also moved the throttle butterfly several times without any damage. Afterwords also opened the electrical part of the throttle body and when i cleaned the electric slipways ( sorry for my bad english ) all the faults gone and the car drives much better to almost perfect. Not perfect because the car has not run for 1 1/2 year and the injectors are 9/10 dirty
