Anyone know where I can source a new windscreen for our 05 GT JTS?

Auto windscreens came out to change it the other day and found they had the wrong one.....

Our GT has rain sensitive wipers ( ha ha) and the one they bought was not compatible.

Now it's on back order and the crack in the original one is getting longer

They reckon it's a really rare part!

The replacement is being done through the cars windscreen cover that goes with the insurance

Fred make sure they have an original Alfa GT window surround pattern rubber seal to fit the screen...A few companies fit a window seal that does not overlap the roof line properly.. Autoglass were very understanding about this..

The first question they should ask - does your car have rain sensing wipers?

Suggest you insist they fit a genuine Alfa screen - those windscreen places use their own aftermarket suppliers and I had 2 new aftermarket screens fitted to my 156 before they gave up and got a screen from Alfa. One of them had a totally different seal arrangement as ALFADOIT mentions and it was not good.

Once they fit it check that the rain sensing wipers work correctly before you give them any money.

After the issue I had with Autoglass on the GTA I used National Windscreens; they provided a Pilkington screen the same as the original. Autoglass turned up with a faulty screen and messed about with the date of the fitting.

That is nothing compared to a guy at work with a current model Audi A3. Two different fitters turned up on the same day to carry out a repair, but couldn't. Two weeks later a screen was fitted but the mirror fell off. Another two weeks and another screen, the mirror fell off that as well; he is still waiting!!

Yeah that was the problem with the second aftermarket screen they tried to fit to my 156 - they couldn't get the mirror to stay stuck. The aftermarket screens come without the mirror mount and the fitter has to glue the old mount to the screen. The genuine screens come with the mount already fitted, so no problems.
