MAF cleaning 2.0jts

I have been getting various faults logged on my 156 2.0jts that seem to point to a to lambda problems:
'P1131 Bank2-Sensor1'
'p2251 (not sure what this is)'
also the following as pending,
'P0159 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 2)'
'P0156 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2).

I found this about cleaning a MAF on the V6, is the cleaning method the same and as easy to try as the V6 as I want to try cleaning it as can't afford any big bill for repairs this month and I have the MOT due next week and want to try a cheap fix to see if it clears any of the faults and hopefully keeps emmisions in check for next week!!

Re: MAF cleaning 2.0jts

That sounds more like a LAMBDA sensor is failing. That could be a problem with the emissions test.

Re: MAF cleaning 2.0jts

I cleaned the MAF reset all the faults, it seems to run a little smoother and feels slightly more responsive. Also Passed it's MOT Thursday, emissions were well within limits. The mechanic who done the MOT did say sometimes you can get away with cleaning the lambda's lightly using wirewool or wire brush and a little alcohol cleaner, so may try this if I get another lambda failure logged.

With the trouble you sometimes have getting a lambda out, I'd just replace them if they are playing up, cleaning will only put off the inevitable for a short while...
