New 147 TI - Any Answers?
I've just bought a very nice 2006 147 TI with 34k on the clock to replace my trusty (but 104k old) 2004 147 Lusso. Had to fly up from Essex to Newcastle to get her, but she seems a good one. £2650 to buy, £600 just spent at Alfa Workshop to get belts and minor niggles sorted, and 2 new 17" TI wheels purchased from Veloces (£250 delivered for the pair) to replace the two n/s ones that are buckled.
A few questions that I'd be really grateful for answers to from experienced owners who know:
- The small round chrome LED fog lights are rusty. Are these easy to remove to clean up or replace? Does anyone know where two new ones might be found outside franchised dealers?
- The painted scuttle under the bonnet just above the radiator has a number of round spot welds, all of which are growing rust and popping off their paint layer (I've just rust cured them). Is this normal, or do I have a lemon in this respect? If so, where else should I look for rust start up spots?
- Are the rear exhaust boxes (the one with the end pipe attached) on facelift cars interchangeable with the pre facelift ones? I replaced the back box on my old 147 recently with an oe box, and it's in better nick than the one on my new car - I'm thinking a swap might be in order!
Many thanks in advance for any replies.
